CONTRIBUTION AND SUBSCRIPTION -BOLIVIA, CUBA AND VENEZUELA- DEC 14 2004

CONTRIBUTION AND SUBSCRIPTION BY THE REPUBLIC OF BOLIVIA TO THE JOINT DECLARATION SIGNED IN LA HAVANA ON 14TH DECEMBER 2004, BY THE PRESIDENTS OF THE COUNCIL OF STATE OF THE REPUBLIC OF CUBA AND THE BOLIVARIAN REPUBLIC OF VENEZUELA

It is evident that the application of neoliberal projects and policies has brought about the expansion and deepening of dependency, poverty, the pillage of our natural resources and inequality in the region. Therefore, true integration between the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean is an essential condition to achieve sustainable development, alimentary security and sovereignty, and the satisfaction of our peoples’ needs.

It is only through joint action by Latin American and Caribbean countries, based on the principles of cooperation, complementarity, mutual help and solidarity, that we will be able to preserve our independency, sovereignty and identity, successfully confronting unilateral tendencies and hegemonic pretensions. Strengthening the Peoples’ Trade Agreement, fighting for the advancement of human beings, and friendship, solidarity and peace between the peoples of the world must be the moral obligation of all governments.

Convinced of the need to promote true integration, solidarity and complementarity between our countries and our peoples, in the name of the Government of the Republic of Bolivia, we wish to contribute to this process and the initiative of the Peoples’ Trade Agreement, by  adopting the objectives, principles and conceptual basis of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of America (ALBA), as established by the Joint Declaration subscribed in La Havana, on 14th December 2004, by the President of the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba and the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

Signed in La Havana, on 29th April 2006

Evo Morales Ayma

President of the Republic of Bolivia
