Ruben Linares, UNT National Coordinator member, held an interview with Hassan Juma, president of the South Oil Basra Union, in London, on Tuesday 6th of December. Both trade unionists shared their experiences in their particular fights against US imperialism. Hassan and his oil workers’ union have been at the forefront of the struggle against US sponsored privatisation of the oil industry in Iraq. Ruben, who is the coordinator of the energy workers federation within the UNT, explained to him the fierce struggle that Venezuelan workers endured to fight back the counterrevolutionary attempts of the Venezuelan oligarchy and the US Embassy in Venezuela to defeat Venezuela’s Bolivarian revolution at the time of the lock out (December 2002). Ruben also told him about the attempts of workers to establish workers' control in Venezuela.

It was a very interesting meeting where both trade unionists tried to establish basic communication and collaboration between both unions on behalf of the worldwide struggle against imperialism.
