Shortly after the regrettable events that took place as a result of an attempted enforcement of a court warrant to evict a number of workers who had occupied the Mitsubishi and Hyundai Car Assembly Plant belonging to MMC Automotriz S.A. corporation in Barcelona, State of Anzoategui, the police officers participating in the operation were submitted to investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Scientific Crime Investigations Police (CICPC, Spanish acronym).

The information was disclosed by Governor Tarek William Saab:

"I have ordered in my capacity as Governor of State of Anzoategui that all law enforcement officers who participated in the actions leading to the unfortunate violent events that resulted in two fatal victims be not only suspended but submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office so as to help determine any responsibility and accountability in this case," said Governor Saab.
